Oncology Massage: Compassionate Touch for Clients Living with Cancer - October 6-8, 2017 

In this 24 hour class, you will learn how to safely work on clients living with cancer, indications and contraindications, how cancer spreads, cancer treatments and their side-effects, post-mastectomy scar-tissue work, disease and treatment-related adjustments, as well as have the opportunity to work in a clinical setting on a person who is currently undergoing treatments for cancer or is in remission. Upon successful completion of this class, you will have mastered the skills necessary to integrate these techniques into your massage treatments immediately.   

What IS the goal of this class?  The goal of this class is to give you, Licensed Massage Therapists, the basic information and skills necessary to safely work on clients who currently have or have had cancer and to inform you of advanced options in oncology massage training. More will be discussed later about advanced educational courses you may want to attend.

What is NOT the goal of this class?  The goal of this class is not to memorize every type and kind of cancer, definitively examine every type of cancer treatment, show you how to perform lymphatic drainage, or be the “end all and be all” for oncology training.  That all can't possibly be covered in 24 hours. :-)
