About the Event

In support of Red Nose Day, we will be making a very serious attempt to break the Pilates World Record for LARGEST PILATES CLASS EVER!   In order to do this, we need 1200 fit and able bodies to participate!

ACS Cobham International School have very generously given us their Sports Centre for this effort, but we need you and your friends from 3pm onwards on the day - it is going to be amazingly good fun!

Our goal is to raise £50,000 for this amazing charity.  It may sound like a lot, but if every participant gets £50 in sponsorship, we will exceed this goal.

General rules of participation are:

-- You must be 8 years of age or older.

-- If you are 8-14 years of age, you need a parent to participate with you.

-- It is not necessary that you have done pilates before - we will teach you! -  but you need to be generally fit and healthy with no injuries.  It's a class of 1200 - we won't be able to correct or help you on the day!

-- We would kindly ask that you only register to attend if you are 100% sure that you will be there on the day.  This is a serious attempt at the record and if you register but don't show up, you can jeapordize the success of the attempt for everyone else involved.

-- We need sponsors!  More than anything, this is about raising money for a fantastic charity.  So whether you participate or not, please sponsor us and tell your friends and your family - and random strangers on Twitter and Facebook - to sponsor the event.   We've made it very easy - there is a team page, you can donate directly on our Red Nose Day page (link below) and it goes straight to the Red Nose Bank Account!

-- Come and join us on the day!  Rumour has it the Red Nose Day people might be convinced to put us on the telly and my sources tell me that we may have a special guest Skyping in to join our fun on the day!

Pilates is a very safe form of exercise, but as with all exercise, it is prudent to consult your doctor before taking any Pilates class.

The class at this event will have 1200 students taking part simulataneously. Therefore, there will clearly be no opportunity for the participating teachers to assist you or make corrections if you are doing any of the exercises incorrectly. Your safety, and the safety of your minor children, are solely your responsibility on the day of the event - before, during and after the class itself. The teachers, Cobham Pilates Limited, or ACS Cobham International School can accept no liability for personal injury related to participation in the session if:

  • Your doctor has advised you against exercise.
  • You have any form of joint or muscular injury, back pain, or other condition that would indicate that you should not take part in the class.
  • You fail to observe instructions on safety or technique
  • Any injury is caused by another participant in the event.

At the event, the pilates class should be performed at a pace that feels comfortable for you. PAIN is the body's warning system and should NOT BE IGNORED. Should you feel any discomfort during the class, please stop immediately and just rest on your towel.

Please note that this is a serious attempt at a World Record. Please also note that if you register for the event and do not show up on the day, you could jeapordize the record attempt for other participants. Therefore, please only sign up if you are completely sure you can attend.
