The Tarot:

Is There a Connection with Psychospirituality?

The human psyche is as fascinating as it is complex. Understanding it is a major goal of psychologists, as well as anyone engaged in self-inquiry. There are many approaches one can take, and many tools that can help. Tarot is one such tool that is gaining in popularity as a way to support and facilitate personal understanding.

Meet Wald and Ruth Ann Amberstones, Teachers of The Tarot & Long Time Members of ASP.

Tarot Psychology: A world of technique you can hold in your hand

Tarot is a perfect example of the relationship between the hidden and the visible in everything. Just as religion, science and art all dive beneath the surface of things and transcend the obvious in things to accomplish their different missions, tarot hides most of its meanings and uses beneath the surface of its imagery. 600 intense years of thought and practice have created a whole symbolic universe economically contained within the 78 cards of a tarot deck.

In recent years, some psychologists and therapists have discovered the pleasures and genuine value of tarot as a psychotherapeutic tool, whose value for them lies mainly in the projective power of its imagery.

But a very great deal more is possible. In this brief session, we'll introduce you to the symbolic world of tarot and to a complex, beautiful, and unsuspected hands-on psychospritual technique we call the Elemental Array, that you can take away with you to use, to contemplate, and possibly to pursue in depth.

The Elemental Array is part of an extensive tarot psychology whose deepest purpose is to answer the question, "Who am I?" Using just the four aces of a tarot deck, you can learn at a glance the whole range of any person's likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, habits and predilections, and general patterns of thought, feeling and behavior. It shows you exactly why individual people act, feel, and believe as they do. With great speed and simplicity, it paints a complex portrait of personality.

Although the Elemental Array is only part of tarot psychology as a whole, it stands entirely on its own. It is a complete analytical technique all by itself and is the foundation of a very effective therapy. Anyone with a working experience of either tarot or psychology will readily grasp how it works and can quickly begin to add this powerful tool to their repertory, adapting it to their personal style and process. An example of this can be seen in an article on the Elemental Array written by Dr. Elinor Greenberg at http://tarotschool.com/ElementalArray.html

Tarot Psychology in general, and the Elemental Array in particular, is simultaneously practical and profound. It illuminates a portion of the hidden nature of human personality, and when you know how to use it, reveals what makes individuals who they are and why and how they work.

Tarot has its own psychology. Who knew? We cordially invite you to join us and see for yourself.
