Featuring a comprehensive, multi-stream educational programme that will lead Users through PROFIBUS and PROFINET from the basic technology through to its use in real world industrial and process applications, this two-day Conference features application-oriented technical sessions and hands-on workshops presented by technology experts and experienced users and systems builders drawn from a wide variety of application areas.

Covering the latest developments in PROFIBUS, PROFINET and PROFIsafe technology for factory and process automation, the programme places great emphasis on serving the needs of the User community, i.e. companies that own, operate, design, build or maintain manufacturing facilities and process plant. The aim is to assist companies making the transition from conventional to fieldbus systems as easy (and jargon free) as possible.

These sessions will include audience participation and so there will be opportunities to explore for yourself how PROFIBUS and PROFINET equipment and techniques are used in practice. The carefully organised schedule means that you can attend hands-on sessions without having to miss an important presentation.

The event is supported by a free of charge exhibition with interactive displays and technology demonstrations from the UK's PROFIBUS Competence Centre and leading product vendors, trainers, consultants and systems integrators.

Who Should Attend and why?

The programme of parallel conference presentations, hands-on practical sessions and exhibition mean that this event is a "must" for anyone involved in, or thinking about, fieldbus, intelligent instrumentation and actuation or networked control systems applications. Supported by live demonstrations of actual tools used in calibration and maintenance, the programme will be of great value to Instrument Technicians/Engineers, C&I Engineers and System Engineers involved in design, operation and maintenance of modern process and manufacturing plant.

A Certificate of Attendance is available for small additional charge.

More about the Conference

The Conference Programme can be found here

Packed with new information from the experts on design, implementation, maintenance and management of PROFIBUS and PROFINET systems, the programme will cover the latest developments in PROFIBUS and PROFINET technology including safety & security, energy management and of course, IIoT – the Industrial Internet of Things, aka Industry 4.0

Keynote Speeches

There will be state-of-the-industry presentations from some top presenters and very able engineers presenting the facts and demonstrating the systems. We’ve lined up not one, but two Keynote addresses.  PI Chairman Karsten Schnieder will unveil interesting new information about the future direction of our technologies while Simon Keogh, General Manager at Siemens Factory Automation & Control will discuss Industry 4.0, focusing on the requirements to be met before the “digitalisation of automation”, which shape the factories of the future can become a reality.

Industry Applications

Many other presentations include one from Roger Marlow of the Water Industry’s standards body, WIMES, who will be discussing the specification and use of PROFIBUS in the Water Industry, while Bernd Kremer of Softing will be presenting a case study on the use of PROFINET at the assembly line of AUDI in Germany.

Practical Workshops

The Workshops will take delegates through the complete process of setting up and maintaining PROFIBUS and PROFINET networks, from basics through to advanced diagnostics.

The event, supported by a table top exhibition is suitable for a wide variety of experience; from first-time users to those with extensive experience with working systems.

Free Books

Renowned PROFIBUS author James Powell of Siemens AG, Canada will be at the conference to launch the 2nd edition of  his popular book "Catching the Process Fieldbus", about which he says "the big thing ... is the addition of PROFINET".

James will have with him few signed copies to give away to conference delegates.

“This book is a must read if you want to get started with PROFIBUS or PROFINET. Just the right balance between theory and real live experience!” commented Karsten Schneider, Chairman of PI.

Valuable Prizes to be Won

Other attractions will include the opportunity for some lucky delegates to win valuable prizes donated by our Training Centres, VTC and MMU. There are places to be won on the new UK Certified PROFIBUS System Design course and the Certified Installer course.
There will also be a number of book prizes to be won including PROFIBUS in Practice, Book 1 for installers, Book 2 for maintenance technicians or troubleshooting engineers, and Book 3 for automation systems buyers or designers

Delegates will also have the chance to win one of 10 copies of the new edition of  Industrial communication with PROFINET Written by Dipl.-Ing. Manfred Popp, the work gives field device manufacturers, plant manufacturers, and commissioning engineers a comprehensive and practical introduction to the functionality and use of PROFINET.
