reThink Your Commute and the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County invite all Sanford-area employers and their employees to participate in a Bike to Work Day event in Sanford on Friday, October 29, 2021.

Details about the Bike Route

  • Full Ride: Group A will meet at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens at 6:30am. Following a safety briefing, Group A will depart at 7:00am and ride the entire 8.5 mile route.
  • Short Ride: Group B will meet at Coastline Park, located at 900 W 9th St, Sanford, FL 32771 (limited public parking is available). A safety briefing will be held at this location, but no helmets will be available at this site. This group will join Group A when they arrive at this location (approximately 7:15am-7:25am). 
  • The full bike route is available on Ride with GPS.

How long is the ride?

  • Riders can register for the full group ride of 8.5 miles or join the ride at the mid-way point for a 4-mile ride. 
  • The primary destination is the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County's worksite located at 400 W. Airport Boulevard in Sanford.
  • Individual riders may leave the group ride at any point along the route to reach their actual worksite. 
  • There will not be a group ride back to the Central Florida Zoo parking lot.
  • The group ride will be slow-paced and all traffic laws will be followed. A police escort has been requested for this event.

Do I need to bring my own bike?

  • Participants are expected to bring their own bicycle or ride to the morning meet-up location. Parking is available at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens for those who drive a motor vehicle to the morning meet-up location.  

Do I have to wear a helmet?

  • Riders must sign a waiver and wear a bicycle helmet to participate in the group ride. Free bike helmets will be available at the Central Florida Zoo morning meet-up location. 

What about bike lights?

  • A limited number of bike lights will be available for riders who need lights, as the bike ride will begin before sunrise. 

Why is this event taking place? Who is organizing it?

  • This event is taking place during Mobility Week, a statewide celebration of making smart, efficient, and safe multimodal transportation choices. During Mobility Week, organizations host events to promote different transportation options, like biking. Learn more at www.MobilityWeekFL.com
