“Courage is found in unlikely places.” (J.R.R. Tolkien)

The 2019 LEFN conference will discuss the necessary courage it takes to implement proactive care of your law enforcement family; to face life challenges in any of its iterations, and the necessity of proactive planning for both law enforcement families and agencies alike.

Why you should take this training

We trust law enforcement to protect and serve our communities to keep us from harm. Harm can come in many forms - one of which is the proverbial burying (one's) head in the sand. This means the parts of life most of us would like to avoid, or try to avoid, by pretending it does not exist.  Life often requires courage to do what one knows must be done.

Statistics show the chance of a line of duty death (LODD) is 2%. For those whose life changed in a split moment in time, the statistic means nothing. This training will take a head-on look at line of duty death for first responders and how law enforcement officers and their families can be as prepared as possible for the unthinkable.

What you will walk away with

  • What law enforcement families should have in place for themselves, no matter what life may bring. (Pre-planning)
  • An understanding of how law enforcement families fit in the larger picture when a line of duty death occurs - to their impacted agency; to the newly bereaved family; to their own families
  • An overview of what occurs in the memorial planning for a fallen hero
  • Hope
