FUND-A-NEED : St. Julie's Immersion Ministry

St Julie’s Immersion Ministry is the new umbrella name for all our outreach programs which focus on not only helping others but learning their stories and being a part of their lives and sharing as sisters and brothers in Christ. It is for the children, youth, young leaders and adults of our community as we are each called to live our baptismal call of service to others in Christ’s name.

Galatians 5:13 says, “You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”

By reaching out to others in our community locally, in other counties, states or countries, we become one church and have a unique pastoral presence in each place we serve as servants of Christ.

St. Julie’s has touched many lives in the last year through our Immersion Ministry –

  • LifeMoves (previously InnVision) serving meals to the homeless
  • Casa de Clara – provided over $7,000 for a mobile shower truck to service those on the streets in San Jose in addition to preparing meals for the residents at Casa.
  • Food Pantry – Feeding over 1,200 families annually.
  • Winter Shelter for the Homeless - Housed a total of seven women over 30 nights.
  • Layette Ministry – provided over 40 complete layettes last year to the Public Health Nurses through the Diocese of San Jose.
  • Tijuana Mission trip built homes for families and the Mothers and Children’s program – “Building Community Through our Shared Faith”
  • Our Sacramental Prep Youth class collected and delivered coats and gloves to the homeless in St. James Park and sat and talked with the homeless to learn their stories
  • Children's Faith Formation “Food for Jesus” and “Trick of Treating” collected several hundred cans and boxes of food for our Food Pantry
  • Our Youth Ministry and Youth Band brought Christmas cheer in song to the Care facilities in Los Gatos and San Jose.

St. Julie’s will continue to reach out in new areas to provide food, clothes and other services to our local community and other communities. To do this, we need your support. Some of the areas in addition to the above we would like to focus on going forward:

  • Migrant Farm Workers’ Experience
  • Navajo Reservation Mission
  • St. Julie’s Emergency Shelter
