Attend NOACA's 2016 Annual Meeting

Community design and transportation can work together to create neighborhoods where residents can get around using a variety of modes of transportation (e.g., walking, bicycling, transit), Baby Boomers can age in place, and children have safe routes to school and safe places to play. NOACA’s 2016 Annual Meeting will explore the integration of land use and transportation to create livable communities that enhance the quality of life through its theme “How Transportation Makes Healthy Communities.”

Date: Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016

Time:
Registration: 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Meeting: 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Place:
Downtown Cleveland Hilton
Hope Ballroom
100 Lakeside Avenue East
Cleveland, OH 44114

Featured Speakers:
Keynote Address: “Community Design for the Triple Bottom Line”
Communities that are designed for active transportation not only promote physical and environmental health, leading to fewer healthcare costs, but they often also entice people and businesses to locate there, leading to a healthy economy. This engaging and thought-provoking discussion will explore the evidence that planning and design actually matter, and will share practical lessons on how regions are implementing complete streets, enlightened land use, and related approaches that are actually working to increase safe walking and bicycling, and boost vibrant local economies, in communities large and small across the country.

Speaker: Mark Fenton, a public health, planning and transportation consultant; an adjunct associate professor at Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy; and former host of the PBS television series “America’s Walking”

“A Vision of Our Transportation Future”
NOACA has spent the past few months gathering input from stakeholders and the public on how the transportation of Northeast Ohio should look 20 years from now. Last month culminated in a visioning session using the input received to create a picture of the transportation choices that would be envisioned.

Speaker: Grace Gallucci, Executive Director, NOACA
