About This Training:
The Summer 2020 MAC Fundamentals in Victim Services Training is an online training for victim advocates or other victim service staff to develop core advocacy knowledge and skills to provide victim-centered services. We will meet online twice a week for 90 minutes each.This training will cover:

• The role and importance of the advocate (both community-based and system-based); 
• Working in collaboration with other criminal justice professionals; 
• Crime victims' rights; 
• Systems change advocacy; 
• Understanding and working to end bias, privilege, and oppression; 
• Occupational identity;
• Vicarious trauma
• And MORE. 

The training will feature interactive online modules to appeal to multiple styles of learning, with a combination of lecture, small group work, and games.

MAC will award a certificate of completion to attendees who attend all modules.

Who Should Attend: 
The primary audience for this training is general crime advocates who have been working in the field for less than two years. This is a fundamental-level training, not an advanced training. Advocates from domestic violence and sexual assault programs are also very welcome, as well as others involved in the criminal justice system and/or victim services such as prosecutors and civil attorneys. 

About the Minnesota Alliance on Crime:
MAC is a membership coalition of more than 90 crime victim service providers in Minnesota, including prosecution-based victim/witness programs, community-based programs, law enforcement agencies, civil legal organizations, and individuals committed to supporting crime victims. The Minnesota Alliance on Crime connects systems, service providers, and victims to advance the response for victims of all crime. We support our membership through training, technical assistance, resources, public policy and legislative initiatives, and networking opportunities.
