Tunisian Crochet Workshop w/ Lisa Daehlin
The technique of Tunisian Crochet is a hybrid of knitting and crochet, resulting in a fabric with a woven quality in its most traditional version and a lace-like quality when using openwork techniques. Learn how to make the basic Tunisian Crochet stitches (simple/knit/purl), work increases/decreases, then expand those skills to incorporate the use of two colors, and to create variations of texture (bobbles) and lace (openwork, netting, fan-shaped motifs). No preparatory work is required for this workshop, however, you are most welcome to bring a small piece of knitting or crochet (a rectangular swatch approx 5” wide would be a nice size) onto which you could build some additional stitches using the Tunisian Crochet technique. This optional idea of bringing in a pre-made swatch (or a few swatches) gives an added dimension of incorporating this technique into stitch-work with which you are already familiar, also opening the idea door to design and combining this technique with others in a “multi-stitchual” manner.PREREQUISITE – this class is suitable for those with the very basic crochet skills (ie – know how to make a chain and single crochet).SUPPLIES – Tunisian (afghan) crochet hook (size h, i or j), double-ended crochet hook (size h, I, or j), two balls of dk or worsted weight yarn (different colors, light colored and smooth).
