Annual Meeting and Book Discussion
July 10, 2021
10:00 AM by Zoom
Each summer, the Council holds an annual meeting to elect officers and directors, and then the pièce de resistance: a book discussion!
Details
The Annual Meeting starts with the Treasurer's Annual Report, followed by elections of the Council's officers and Executive Committee for the following year. This year revised Bylaws will be presented to the Council for approval.
Then we'll do what we like to do most: have a book discussion! This year’s book is Kindred by Octavia Butler. Dana, a modern black woman, is snatched through time and space from her home in California to a plantation in the antebellum South. Rufus, the plantation owner’s son, is drowning, and Dana has been summoned to save him. Dana is drawn back repeatedly through time to the slave quarters, and each time the stays grow longer, more arduous, and more dangerous.
We’ll be reading the paperback version of this book, ISBN-13: 9780807083697, available new from Amazon for $10.49 or Books, Inc. for $16.00.
