Courageous Conversations with Ohio Men: Faith and Masculinity

We are excited to invite you to our engaging and informative Courageous Conversation about Faith and Masculinity featuring Yehiel Curry, Joe Graves, Hsa Win, and Glenn Harris, ODVN's Assistant Director of Prevention.

Presenter Biographies:
Yehiel Curry currently serves as bishop for Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). He became ordained and later received his Master of Divinity from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago after serving in the social service field and recognizing a need for anti-violence work in Chicago. His ministry work began with Safe in My Brothers Arms, a development and mentoring program for African American men on the south side of Chicago. This grew to become Shekinah Chapel Lutheran Church, where he first served as pastor. Bishop Curry continues to work with SIMBA and its sister organization, Safe in My Sisters Arms. He is also the founder and advisor for Riverdale Organized for Change and served on the Policy and Organizing board for the Community Renewal Society in Chicago.
Joe Graves grew up in Hicksville, Ohio as one of seven kids. He is the lead pastor at Central City Church in Columbus, where he lives with his wife, Allyssa, and their son, Finn. He received his bachelor's degree from Taylor University in Biblical Studies, and a Master of Divinity from United Theological Seminary with a focus in Church Renewal. He enjoys almost anything creative but loves storytelling the best. He is currently exploring the intersection of faith & science, technology & nature, and issues of justice. Joe has 10 years of leadership experience in non-profits and has helped launch four community organizations, including Central City Church, Little Bottoms Free Store, and Grandview Anti-Racism and Inclusion Network (GAIN).
Hsa Win is a Ka’Ren American who was born in Thailand. He came to the United States in 2011 and became a citizen in 2019. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Akron and lives in northeastern Ohio and works to support the local Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. He shares the story of his family’s relocation from the refugee camp where he spent the first 11 years of his life to the United States, and the ongoing challenges of family separation. He currently serves as a member of the Community and Civic Engagement Team at ASIA Inc. Hsa actively works to reconnect with his Ka’Ren cultural roots by serving as a Community Navigator for his community in Akron. As a practicing Buddhist, he hopes to share the unique features of Ka’Ren ethnic culture with the larger AAPI community to create a space for joy, learn about different worldviews, and feel supported in his identity.
