Victim-Defined Safety Planning

Considerations in Supporting Parents with Children

Join nationally-known lawyer and domestic violence author Jill Davies as she discusses how to utilize the framework of "Listen, Connect, Offer." ODVN's youth caucus meeting will overview advocate plans for victim-defined safety planning.

Through presentation and discussion, topics will include:

  • Victim risk analysis and parental decision-making.
  • Child safety.
  • Identifying relevant safety strategies.
  • Advocacy with survivors of domestic violence who remain in contact with a current or former partner. 
In addition, the meaning of "safety" will be discussed, along with commonly held views of safety aligning with survivor perspectives and affecting advocacy.

 

Special Guest:

Attorney Jill Davies, Deputy Director of Greater Hartford Legal Aid and Building Comprehensive Solutions to Domestic Violence, an initiative of the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRC).
