Writing skills are essential in all professions and increasingly so for technical professionals who need to be able to observe, document, describe and explain in a clear and concise fashion the hardware and software they develop so that end users can fully utilize their products. Technical writing is challenging because writers must often “translate” technical jargon into crisp, clear English that’s comprehensible to non-technicians. Professionals who master this skill give themselves a competitive edge.
This day-long workshop provides you with the savvy you need for effective writing. You’ll learn from a master teacher and then practice writing instructions, organizing material, learning how to edit, writing summaries and preparing first drafts.
Here is just some of what you’ll learn:
Who Should Attend: Tech professionals of all stripes, writers, marketing & communication specialists, anyone seeking employment in technical writing areas.
Presenter: Paul R. Dixon is a technical writer and editor with more than 25 years’ experience in the field. He has written primarily software documentation, ranging from end-users installing off-the-shelf software on their home computers to programmers who customize enterprise-level software systems. He has worked in a variety of technology companies that have specialized in the fields of accounting, banking, investing, manufacturing, and health care, among others.
