The Reptilian Lawyer is a theory championed in the book D. Ball and D. Keenan, Reptile: The 2009 Manual of the Plaintiffs' Revolution and subsequent publications.  The goal of the reptilian lawyer is to create community "safety rules" which the defendant is argued to have violated - the violation of which threatens the community, and more importantly the juror - and against which the community and juror can be protected only by awarding a substantial verdict. The reptilian plaintiff's lawyer seeks to obtain the agreement of the defendant (as well as other defense witness) with these safety rules and typically does so through "two general types of safety rule questions: big picture questions and hypothetical safety questions.  This presentation will address strategies for addressing the reptilian  lawyer's deposition of your defendant's client.
