It's a Zoobilee! 

Please join us for a fundraiser benefitting two organizations that are great assets to Essex County. The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum & the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills invite you to a starlit zoo ramble at this year’s fundraising event, “It’s a Zoobilee!” 100% of all event proceeds will benefit the two non-profit organizations to support their meaningful work in our local community.

Our evening will feature a live band, open bar, a silent auction, and a strolling dinner. But that’s not all! While you roam the zoo at your leisure (without kids!), enjoy behind the scenes tour of the giraffe house; sea lion shows; animal meet and greets; and other engaging experiences. Finally, the carousel and train will be open for your enjoyment as well!

Cora Hartshorn Arboretum & Bird Sanctuary

Cora Hartshorn Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary is a historic woodlands garden and educational institution. In 1923, Stewart Hartshorn, the founder of Short Hills, gave the property that would later become the Arboretum to his daughter, Cora Hartshorn, to meet with neighbors in order to encourage stewardship behaviors. She willed the property to Millburn upon her death in 1958 and CHA became a non-profit in 1961. CHA’s mission is to foster environmental awareness and education using the Arboretum as a model for environmental stewardship and citizen science participation. CHA is dedicated to increasing biological diversity of the property through proper forest management and restoration. These efforts serve as the foundation of all of CHA’s environmental education programs.

Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills

Founded in 1913, the Junior League of the Oranges & Short Hills (JLOSH) is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Through its service, JLOSH focuses on addressing the basic needs of low-income children by closing the gap on food insecurity, essential clothing needs, school supplies and personal hygiene needs of children living in poverty. JLOSH has also been a multi-decade supporter of the great work at the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum. JLOSH serves the communities of East Orange, West Orange, Orange, South Orange, Maplewood, Springfield, Livingston, Millburn and Short Hills.
