Suicide Prevention and Postvention with Amy Zell

This training will afford attendees an opportunity to understand the role of Postvention in the field of Suicidology. Research indicates that approximately 135 people are impacted after a suicide loss. While the intensity of that impact diminishes the further the distance is in the relationship between the survivor of suicide loss and the deceased, we must recognize that suicide is the only cause of death that you have no control of being subjected to which immediately puts you at risk for dying by suicide- as a known risk of dying by suicide is having suffered a suicide loss. The presenter will Increase knowledge of postvention intervention  services within our area and provide information to share with clients and the community to assist in providing the best peer support services possible. The presenter will also address the role of empathy distress syndrome and complete QPR Gatekeeper training to increase preventative skills: Question, Persuade, Refer.
