Dr. Michael Kaufmann, EMS Medical Director at Ascension St. Vincent and EMS Medical Director for the State of Indiana, presenter.

Dr. Michael Kaufmann first became an EMT in 1992.  He graduated from Indiana University in 1993 with a BS in microbiology.  He worked as a microbiologist for Cook Pharmaceutical Solutions for one year before entering IU School of Medicine.  He graduated with his medical degree in 1997 and went on to complete an emergency medicine residency in Cleveland, Ohio. 

Dr. Kaufmann has worked for eighteen years as an emergency physician at Ascension St. Vincent where he currently serves as the EMS Medical Director. Dr. Kaufmann is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and the sub-specialty of EMS and was one of the first physicians in the country to receive this distinct certification.  In 2017, Dr. Kaufmann was granted fellow status by NAEMSP.  In 2018 he was appointed the EMS Medical Director for the State of Indiana.

Attending this presentation will provide you with regulatory and administrative updates as to the state of our EMS System in Indiana, an understanding of ways that EMS provider agencies can embrace their new role in district Healthcare Coalitions and inform you of recent changes in Indiana requiring EMS provider agencies to have a great focus on pediatric readiness.
