Introduction to Entrepreneurship 

Seminar Description

 If you’re considering becoming a small business owner, you’ll want to attend this seminar to learn what it takes, what challenges and pitfalls you can expect, and what proven steps you can take to greatly increase your chance of success.  In this 2 hour seminar, you’ll explore how to test the feasibility of your idea to ensure it’s the RIGHT one.  You’ll find tips for researching the market and your competitors, securing needed funds, and projecting your business results.   Various legal business entities will be defined, and you’ll learn about resources that can help you with licenses, permits, and other registrations needed for your business.  And hopefully, you’ll leave confident that you’re well positioned to take those critical first steps toward entrepreneurship.  

Speaker Biography

Dennis Weldon has management experience in various industries and functions. He spent the early part of his career as a management consultant, serving clients in both the transportation and electric utility industries, where he helped them to develop and implement short and long range plans to improve their businesses. 
Later in his career he moved into Information Technology. With a Fortune 500 electric utility, he managed implementation of a new IT function and was also responsible for management of the company’s human 
resource and financial systems. He attained a certification as Project Management Professional with the Project Management Institute. He also earned a certification as a Senior Project Manager with IBM, where he 
managed several large IT system implementation projects supporting PC manufacturing. As a senior manager with IBM, he worked with US and international clients in the finance, health care, pharmaceutical, and state 
and federal government industries to manage their IT functions. He has a B.S degree in Aerospace Engineering and an MBA.
