Exploring How Transformative Learning Strategies Can Support FNMI Learners and Their Communities

Registration is open to educators currently facilitating learning in FNMI communities and with FNMI learners and is also open to individuals interested in sharing relevant FNMI cultural experience.

Thank you for your interest in this professional inquiry institute where we hope to contribute to advancing formal learning practice to address the challenge of reconciliation.

This institute will focus on the needs of FNMI learns and communities in order to contribute to their individual and collective aspirations.

We approach this work as co-learners hence our use of professional inquiry methods where we create the space where we can pose our questions and then proceed to address them by drawing on the experiences and understanding of those attending.

Some initial questions for the institute include:

  1. How can holistic transformative pedagogies (such as authentic inquiry) contribute to  FNMI formal leaning practice to support individuals, communities and cultures?
  2. What FNMI values, perspectives and practices can be applied to enhance formal learning practices?
  3. How do we “walk the talk “ in this institute by bringing FNMI insights and practices to the professional leaning experience itself?

We look forward to working with you as we pursue the hopes that learning offers. On registration please complete the short survey items that will be used to shape this professional learning experience.

Cost: $150 CAD (HST, breakfast, lunch, refreshments, and 3 publications included)

**Space is Limited! Register by November 8, 2016*
