Province I Annual Formation Conference

Join colleagues from across Province I as we gather digitally to share ideas, resources and community. This year we welcome Patricia M. Lyons and Lisa Kimball on Friday night to lead conversation about the marriage of evangelism and formation. The following morning we will engage in workshops to connect and inspire our ministries. Join us!

One registration; two event components!

The Friday, March 5th program from 7:00- 9:00 PM:

What happens when you include evangelism in your formation ministry? How does formation enhance the effectiveness of evangelism? Active and engaging disciples! Lisa Kimball and Tricia Lyons will share their enthusiasm and wisdom built upon their acclaimed workshop given at theRooted in Jesus conference held in Atlanta in January 2020. Each an expert in her field, the two are living examples of how the marriage of formation and evangelism can infuse life into both of these ministry areas. You will never consider formation and evangelism as separate ministries again in empowering disciples of Jesus. Following their live presentation over Zoom, there will be plenty of time for Q & A and conversation.

Lisa Kimball, Ph.D. is the Associate Dean of Lifelong Learning and the James Maxwell Professor of Lifelong Christian Formation at Virginia Theological Seminary. Her areas of expertise include human development, experiential learning, faith formation, church history, and popular culture, adult formation, lay ministry development, adolescent spiritual development, and program evaluation. She is currently directing a 5-year, $1.5M grant project Baptized for Life: An Episcopal Discipleship Initiative in the Lilly Endowment Inc. Called to Lives of Meaning and Purpose Initiative.

Patricia M. Lyons teaches and serves as Senior Advisor to the Dean for Evangelism Initiatives at Virginia Theological Seminary. She is a member of the presiding bishop’s cabinet on evangelism and the working group for the “Way of Love” curricular and support resources. An honors graduate from Harvard College in the Comparative Study of Religion, she holds a Master of Divinity degree from the Harvard Divinity School, and received her doctorate from the Virginia Theological Seminary. She is the author of What is Evangelism? (2019) and Teaching Faith with Harry Potter (2017).

The Saturday, March 6th program from 9:00 am- 12:00 PM:

This time will feature TED-Talk style mini presentations from a variety of leaders from around the province. Presenters will share work they are doing in their respective contexts here in New England, and will draw upon themes identified and explored during our Friday evening presentation.

We invite you to log in at 9:00 AM with a morning beverage of your choice where we will introduce you to our presenters. More information about specific schedule and presenters TBA.
