Invitation for an inspirational evening!

SJF has once again planned a very special evening to present the 2013 awards to Ventura County grantees leading innovative projects in Fillmore, Santa Paula, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, El Rio and Ventura.

Thanks to the generosity of SJF donors and a matching challenge grant from the Ventura County Community Foundation, we will award $40,000 in grant funding this year. 2013 culminates our three-year emphasis on youth-led efforts for communities organizing to advance equality and opportunity for all. In this transitional year, SJF piloted a different approach to grant making and invited only 2011 and 2012 grantees to apply though a Letter of Inquiry. Those applicants who were rated the highest then wrote full proposals that were reviewed by the grantmaking committee, with five organizations receiving grants for the 2013-14 cycle. The five organizations are: The Abudant Table- "Rooted Futures: Growing Change" project, CAUSE- Ventura Avenue United Leadership Team project, MICOP- Tequio Youth Group "Fields to College" campaign, CEDC- "One Tribe Anti-bullying" project and One Step a la Vez- "The Next Step" program.

We also want to thank our generous sponsors for making this event possible and for showing their commitment in advancing equality and opportunity for all in Ventura County.

*Brian Landers, Ventura County Credit Union,                         Democratic Singles & the Democratic Club for Camarillo*

Please join us in acknowledging the inspirational achievements of our 2013 award recipients and honoring the good work of SJF volunteers, friends, supporters and staff.
