Please join us Saturday, May 28, at UCLA's Melnitz Hall in the Bridges Theater where we will show the films of Dan McLaughlin. Family and friends will also speak and share their memories of Dan. In an adjacent sound stage, there will be an exhibit of Dan's art as well as video messages, films and refreshments. Some of the art will available for purchase at the event via silent auction with the proceeds going to the UCLA Dan McLaughlin Animation Fund. (See below.) The film screening/talking part will start at 4:30. The sound stage art exhibit/memorial beer drinking event will commence shortly after the films (and speaking).
Can't make it but want to be there anyways?
Well then make a film or something and send it and we'll show it. How is such a thing possible, you ask? Well, here is how you can do it in 11 easy steps:
Step 1. videos should be no larger than 2GB in size and preferably 1280 x 720 (1920 x 1080 or 720 x 480 also okay)
Step 2. videos need to be submitted to Steve Engles via WeTransfer: https://www.wetransfer.com
Step 3. click on the Free WeTransfer button, (not WeTransfer Plus)
Step 4. An "I Agree" cookies window appears so click on the "I Agree" button
Step 5. A new window appears that says, "Send up to 2GBs", then click on the "+Add files" button.
A window will appear from your computer wanting you to select your file from your hard drive.
Find and click on your movie file
Step 6. The name of your movie should appear at the upper part of this small window.
(please note that the file should have .mov on the end of the name, if it doesn't please add the extension otherwise WeTransfer can't see it.)
Step 7. Where it says, "Friend's email” enter sengles@tft.ucla.edu
Step 8. Type in your email where its says, "Your Email".
Step 9. You can type in a short message, which will be helpful for Steve just to know who is sending the video.
Step 10. Lastly, hit the "Transfer" button at the bottom of the window.
A small wheel will spin showing the % of your transfer and then it will say,"Transfer Complete"
Step 11. Hit the "OKAY" button, another window will appear telling you that your file will be removed from their system after a week.
Hit the "Skip" button, quit out of the program and you are done!
You should receive an email shortly telling you that your movie has been transferred to Steve Engles,
who will also get an email letting him know that its ready for him to download.
The nice thing about this system is that there are no passwords to deal with, its easy, fast, and your file is erased from their sever within a week.
