CARING FOR YOUR PERINATAL BODY

COME LEARN ABOUT PREGNANCY RELATED PHYSICAL CHANGE, BASIC EXERCISES AND WAYS TO SUPPORT YOUR BODY AS YOU CARE FOR YOUR BABY

Licensed physical therapists explain physical changes that occur in the perinatal period, including common postural compensations, which may contribute to pain. We will discuss diastasis rectus, ways to promote pelvic floor muscle health, and how to address common pregnancy discomforts. We will also offer suggestions on how to strengthen your body to meet new postpartum responsibilities. In the second half of the program, therapists will lead participants through a set of appropriate basic exercises.

ABOUT ANN & ANNIE:

Ann Swayne is a physical therapist and Pilates instructor who has worked with the perinatal population for approximately 20 years.

Annie Cumming is a physical therapist with advanced training in pelvic floor conditions pain, bowel and bladder health, and pregnancy. She also has more than 15 years experience as a yoga teacher leading both private and group based asana classes.

You will learn:
  • Physical changes during perinatal period
  • Basic exercises to support your body’s changes
  • Ways to lift /carry baby to prevent injury
  • Precautions / Contraindications to Exercise during Pregnancy
