The 57th Greater Birmingham Mayors Prayer Breakfast

This U.S. National Day of Prayer event is a significant part of Birmingham’s legacy. In the aftermath of the chaotic 1963 Birmingham Campaign, Reverend Billy Graham held the city's first integrated event at Legion Field on Easter Sunday in 1964.

The first Prayer Breakfast began in May of 1965 on the hills of a tumultuous year. Birmingham saw the bombing of Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, the murder of four little girls, and two young boys riding a bicycle. Businessman Mark Hodo, Chairman of City Federal Savings and Loan, led the business community in seeking God's hand in helping our City. Today his grandson, Mark Miller, leads the call for a regional day of prayer.

Over the last year, our nation wrestled with both a worldwide pandemic and racial unrest, our citizens are weary and fatigued. We are asking business leaders to join us as our Pastoral Leaders come to the forefront and pray for our nation. They will lead prayer for the families of our City, State, and Nation as various cities and communities across America observe the National Day of Prayer.

Please join us for the 57th Annual Greater Birmingham Mayors' Prayer Breakfast, this year's event is being held on the Thursday May 6, 2021 at 7:00AM at The Harbert Center and on our official Facebook page- Greater Birmingham Mayors' Prayer Breakfast.
