Patent Valuation: Methods and Madness

Join us on Thursday, October 13th for a CLE happy hour!

This presentation provides an overview of primary (and not so primary) valuation methodologies, including current brokerage rate, cost, market, income, and relief from royalty methods (as well as Fat Tony, default, and acoustical impact methods). Other factors in valuation are also discussed, including patent age and citation and portfolio size. A focus on patent analysis outlines factors to look for in strong (and not-so-strong) patents.  Spoiler alert: no valuation method is definitive, and the real value in becoming conversant in the various methodologies and metrics is their application to negotiations.
