Emcee:  Alisha Pina

$40 per Ticket

Every year since 1988, RICJ has organized the only award program in our region recognizing the vital role of media in connecting us to one another.  We honor exemplary print, broadcast and internet stories that educate, illuminate and show who we are as a diverse community.  Journalists and media enter their best work in a juried competition, and we celebrate their work each May.

Join RICJ in thanking the talented people who expertly tell the stories of our diverse, vibrant, geographically small but culturally vast Rhode Island.  They are listed to the left, with links to their winning stories that you can enjoy reading today!

Come to Metcalf Awards event to meet the winning journalists and the people covered in their stories, who will present the journalists with their awards at the May 17th event.  We are delighted to announce that our event Emcee is ALISHA PINA, a two-time winner of the Metcalf Awards.

This award was founded to honor Michael Metcalf, publisher of The Providence Journal, for his community contributions and his recognition of the media's power to offer insights that can promote understanding. The Metcalf competition is judged by a panel of journalists, faculty and community.
