April M. Rimpo Art Class: Mounting, Gallery Wrapping, & Varnishing Paintings on Watercolor Paper

Please join me for a 2-hour demonstration that will enable you to present your watercolor or fluid acrylic paintings on paper without glazing. April will show you how to mount your watercolor paper to a rigid platform, gallery wrap your painting (if desired), and varnish the painting.

April will provide written instructions with a supply list and special insights on preparing your paper, tips about the acrylic medium used to mount your painting, drying times for each step, and the importance of different varnishes at different stages of the process.

She'll have several paintings prepared to different stages of the process so she can show you how your pieces will look at each stage and demonstrate the next step. In this way she can speed up a multi-day process into two hours.

En plein air artists will learn what they need to have done prior to going out to paint and when they can varnish and frame so they are ready by the end of a multi-day plein air event.

Samples will be used to show you the final results of a mounted and framed painting, a painting mounted on a deep cradled board, and a gallery wrapped painting.

This class is held in April's basement studio. You can enter the studio from the side yard  by coming down our sloped driveway on the right side of the house. If you go to the front door you will have to go down stairs to get to the studio.

Snow Date: Mar 16.
