Schoolyard Rain Garden Maintenance
Wednesday, August 20, 2014
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Bradley Creek Elementary School, Wilmington
Join volunteers and federation staff to help maintain the rain gardens and stormwater wetlands at Bradley Creek Elementary School. Volunteers will be removing invasive plants, pruning trees and spreading mulch in the existing rain gardens and wetlands at the school. All project supplies and equipment will be provided as well as snacks and refreshments. The event is open to the public and suitable for ages 8 and up. Come on out to help plant a rain garden or just to find out what you can do in your own back yard to protect your local creek.
Tool and gloves will be provided as well as snacks and drinks (bring your own water bottle). Volunteers can bring your own gloves or tools and extra wheelbarrows are always needed. Please wear clothes and shoes that can get wet or muddy (DO NOT wear tevas, sandals, crocs, flip flops). Extra boots will be available. Also bring a raincoat if rain is forecasted (we will work in light rain).
