Vajra Regent Ösel Tendzin

Parinirvana Anniversary Celebration

Please join with Lady Lila Rich and the sangha in Boulder, Colorado for a celebration of the 27th anniversary of the Vajra Regent Ösel Tendzin’s passing into Parinirvana.

This year’s celebration is being sponsored by the Vajra Regent Ösel Tendzin Library & Archives under the direction of Lady Lila Rich. The event will take place at Nalandabodhi Boulder meditation hall.

The anniversary of a Parinirvana is traditionally understood to be an auspicious occasion for connecting with the wisdom and skillful means of our lineage teachers. We will enjoy a rich day of teachings and other offerings from the collected works of Vajra Regent Ösel Tendzin along with dharma practice and recollections by sangha.

Participants are welcome to take part in any or all segments of the program, the picnic lunch and/or benefit party.  You may complete your registration at the door but please click the Register Now button at the bottom of this page to indicate your intention to attend the program. This will let the organizers know if you will be taking part in the picnic lunch and/or benefit party. Suggested donation for the program is $20 (arrangements can be made if cost presents an obstacle).

We look forward to celebrating with you!

Vajra Regent Ösel Tendzin (born Thomas Rich 1943 – 1990)

As the principle student and dharma heir to Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Ösel Tendzin became the first-generation Westerner to hold the Kagyü and Nyingma lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. He served as vice-president and then president of Vajradhatu, taught extensively at centers around the world and at Naropa University, and co-founded the Shambhala Training Program together with Trungpa Rinpoche. He is succeeded by his wife Lady Lila Rich and their four children, and by his dharma heir, Patrick Sweeney Trimè Lhawang. The library and archive that bears his name was founded upon his death in 1990 and cultivated by his many dedicated students and friends from that time to the present.
