As a business owner it’s critical that you know the financial condition of your company. It’s important to take the time to set up your recordkeeping and accounting system properly from the start as it will save you time, money and frustration down the road.

Having an adequate accounting system in place could make the difference between success and failure in your business.

An effective accounting/bookkeeping system allows you to answer the following questions:

  • Am I making a profit in my business?
  • Are my costs out of control with excessive spending?
  • Am I meeting my revenue targets and goals?
  • Are my customers paying me on time?
  • Am I charging the right price for my goods and services?
  • Can I afford to hire employees or contractors?
  • Can I repay a small business loan with interest?
  • Can I move into retail or office space?
  • How much can I pay myself in salary?
  • Am I maximizing my business deductions for tax reporting purposes?
