UNC Pole Vault Clinic.

Welcome to the UNC Pole Vault Clinic Homepage!  Our clinic last year was an overwhelming success and everyone was anxious to know when we would do it again.  Our next clinic will be on Saturday, October 23, 2010.  It is designed for both new and experienced vaulters, anyone between the 7th and 12th grade is eligible.  Groups will be divided based on ability level.  Vaulters will be taken through a series of highly successful learning progressions, taught by the best coaches worldwide.  We believe in learning by doing.  Please share this UNC Pole Vault Clinic with your friends and coaches to make it the best clinic possible.  If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at the email address or phone number listed.  We look forward to seeing you!

Coach Josh Langley, Clinic Director

UNC Pole Vault Clinic Staff.

Camp Director:  Josh Langley, UNC Chapel Hill Pole Vault Coach.

Josh Langley is in his second season at the University of North Carolina and seventh season overall. Prior to joining the Tar Heels, Langley coached at Clemson the past three years. In 2007 and 2008 he coached the men’s field events and multi-event athletes. Last year, he coached men’s and women’s pole vault and throws and men’s multi-events. He also coached for three years at Gardner-Webb (2004-06). He is a 2003 graduate of Western Carolina and began his coaching career with the Catamounts. He was an outstanding javelin thrower at WCU and was a member of two Southern Conference championship teams in 1999. At Clemson, he helped Mitch Greeley to a second-place finish in the pole vault at the 2008 NCAA Indoor Championships, the Tigers’ best individual finish indoors ever by a field athlete. Greeley later qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials. Langley also helped Miller Moss qualify for the 2009 NCAA Championships in the decathlon; Nicole Lomnicka was ranked No. 7 in the nation last year in the hammer; and his athletes earned All-America honors in the heptathlon and triple jump.

Special Guest Coach:  Rusty Shealy, Columbia, SC.   www.RSPVSports.com

As Director of Rusty Shealy Pole Vault, Coach Shealy is referred to as "The Unfair Advantage".  Since 1998, he has coached fifty-eight South Carolina High School State Champions, nine National Champions and had three on "Team USA" the World Team.  He may be the only coach in the country to ever have four of his athletes acheive the rarity of jumping their age, since only a few people in the world do it each year.  One jumped 14' at 14 years of age, four have jumped 15' at 15 years old, two jumped 16' at 16 years old, and one 17' 1" at 17 years of age.  As an NCAA coach at the University of South Carolina, Rusty coached seven Southeastern Conference scorers in two seasons, with one NCAA Indoor All-American female at 13' 6.25".
