Alexandra Rhodes - Founder, Rhodes Educational Consulting

Alexandra Dumas Rhodes, founder of Rhodes Educational Consulting, is a graduate of Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degree in English.  Alexandra has over eighteen years of experience working with high school students. She has been admitted as a Professional Member to the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), the Western Association for College Admissions Counseling (WACAC), and the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC).

Rhodes Educational Consulting in Beverly Hills, CA guides students and their families through the college application process, helping maximize options while minimizing anxiety.  We offer assistance throughout the four years of high school, culminating in college selection, application presentation, essay preparation, interview techniques, and strategies for admission. Our students have been admitted to over 100 different colleges and universities, and many have received partial or full merit scholarships using our financial advice.  Our philosophy is that every one of our students is an individual who deserves customized advice on a case-by-case basis. We believe that the college process is a journey towards more than just finding the best-match colleges; it is a chance for a student to become his most authentic self during high school. We will never recommend that a student do activities or take classes in order to “get in to college.” Instead, we help our students follow their academic and extracurricular passions, which will of course create a more authentic and rewarding college admissions experience.

Baillie Gerstein - Founder, Admission Accomplished

With a BA and MFA from Brooklyn College, Baillie Gerstein has also completed the UCLA College Counseling Certificate Program.  Throughout her 35 years in the work force, Baillie has seamlessly navigated between the worlds of education and theatre/television.  While performing on Broadway and Off-Broadway, she was a licensed high school English teacher for 15 years in New York.  In Los Angeles, she worked for LAUSD in Program Evaluation and Research for five years.  Most recently, in addition to her private practice, she was the Senior Coordinator for “SOURCE” - Student Outreach for College Enrollment (a pilot program designed to help disadvantaged, Los Angeles high school students apply to college and for financial aid).  Baillie also specializes in helping students applying to Theater/Musical Theater Programs, offering comprehensive preparation, including monologue, song selection, audition skills and direction.  She is also the proud mother of a graduate from the University of Michigan and a member of IECA, WACAC and HECA.

Tim Urban - Managing Director & Co-Founder, Launch Education Group and Harvard Alumni Interviewer

Tim earned A.B. from Harvard University, graduating cum laude with a major in Government.  Since 2007, Tim has overseen tutoring operations for Launch Education Group, and he has recently opened the company's second office in Manhattan.  Previously, Tim co-founded and oversaw tutoring operations for The Cartim Group from 2005-2007.  Alongside Launch Education Group consultant and educational therapist Carolyn McWilliams, Tim built the Cartim Group into one of the premier academic tutoring companies in Los Angeles.

Tim's tutoring philosophy stems from a wealth of tutoring experiences, as both a tutor and a tutoring company owner. In addition to overseeing operations of Launch Education Group and The Cartim Group for 5 years, Tim has a decade of tutoring experience and has personally tutored nearly every academic subject and worked to prepare students for the SAT I, SAT II, ACT, GRE and ISEE tests.

William Wheelen - President and Founder of Sentia LLC

Billy is a native New Yorker and a graduate of Regis High School.  He holds a B.S. in Theater and a B.A. in Comparative Literary Studies from Northwestern University and a certificate in College Counseling from UCLA Extension.  His career as a tutor spans over a decade and includes in-depth preparation for not only the SAT but also the SSAT, ISEE, ACT, LSAT, and GRE.  As an academic mentor, Billy has personally guided nearly one hundred students through the challenges of high school, college and beyond.  His extensive background in college consulting germinated from a desire to help his SAT students present themselves in the best possible light throughout the college application process.  His combination of an emphasis on community involvement, specialized interests, and polished and persuasive writing samples has a consistently transformative effect on his students’ futures.  His pro bono efforts include the founding of the College Admission Counseling Program at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York City’s West Village and outreach efforts designed to increase the representation of socioeconomically disadvantaged LGBT youth at American colleges and universities.  Billy is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling.
