"Thinking Systemically Is Critical To Your Engineering Career"

What does it mean to be thinking "systemically"?  It means thinking beyond your immediate task to the implications of what your work means to the larger project, the organization, and/or the company.

I have witnessed many instances where engineers or managers have not thought systemically or have not thought systemically "enough" and their actions have had a negative impact on the project. For example, the procurement manager who didn't think about the impact of sourcing a new supplier; the engineer who didn't think what a slightly thicker support would do to the overall system weight; or the programmer that didn't think of the impact of adding an additional varible to the call routine.

In this Group Coaching Teleseminar, Steven will discuss not only the importance of thinking systemically but how to do it.  Where do you take your thoughts so that you can think more systemically?  What paths do you leave in and what paths do you leave out?  How far into the future and into how many company organizations do you take your thoughts in order to ensure you understand the impact of your work?
