Hello,
Ah... success is a wonderful thing isn't it? it is! And like most things in life it is much like a double-edged sword. On the one hand, success is what has given us the status, however we measure it, that we have. It has provided us with all that we define as "success". On the other hand, our presumption is that more of the same behavior that got us our "past" success will get us more "future" success.
Research has shown that one of the major stumbling blocks of successful people is actually their dependance on the strategies that got them their success in the first place. Meaning that many people believe that the behaviors and capabilities that got them to where they are will get them to where they want to get to next. And as I stated, studies show that this is just not always the case.
Most people are aware of the old adage of the "Peter Principle". It states that people rise to their level of incompetence. I believe the "Peter Principle" is nothing more than a representation of "What made me successful in the past will make me successful In the future". People keep depending on the same behaviors until they can't any longer.
How do we break out of this pattern? How do we adjust as our career advances so that we can be successul in new ways? Whether as an engineer or as a manager, how do we become flexible enough to be successful in the long-term? What must we understand? Who must we become and what behaviors will we have to give up, and how?
These are some of the questions that Steven will answer in this Group Coaching Teleseminar. Join Steven for a look into what "Success-Flexibility" means to your long-term career.
