A day-long professional development workshop for artists from all disciplines
(7 hours including a 30 minute “working lunch”)

This workshop expands the skill set and knowledge of professional artists with a desire to increase income and professional acumen while also increasing exposure. The one-day course delivers practical information through short lectures, hands-on activities and individual coaching to develop new skills and to impact the entire group’s awareness and professional skills. The workshop is not purely about delivery of information. It is intensive, highly participatory and involves coaching conversations that empower you to grow in your creative work and in your career.

The workshop covers:

  • Individual Assessment
  • Creating and living from your vision
  • Speaking and writing about your work
  • Crafting effective goals and objectives
  • Funding Landscape for Creative Workers
  • Fundraising strategy for your projects
  • The Grant Process: elements of the proposal and budget writing
  • Other topics relevant to artists across disciplines.

The workshop is open to artists across disciplines, including visual, literary, film, theatre, dance/performance, new media and other artists. Applicants are asked to commit to show up on time and to stay for the entire day, from 10am-5pm, to be on time and to arrive ready to work.

The workshop schedule includes a thirty minute working lunch. Workshop participants are responsible for bringing their own brown bag lunch. In addition, participants should bring the following materials: Pen/Pencil and notebook, one or two page resume, 300 word max artist bio, work samples (10 jpgs on CD or jump drive 300 or 72 dpi), 250 word artist statement, 100 word project description, seat pad (optional).
