New York Superconductor Technology Summit:Cultivating Economic Growth from within the Empire State

Westchester Community College will host New York's first Superconductor Technology Summit on Friday November 12, 2010. The summit aims to highlight the New York-based universities and businesses developing and commercializing emerging superconductor technologies, create excitement for career opportunities in the industry, increase awareness among students of the numerous training and internship options, and maximize the collaboration between and among academia and corporate entities.

Industry members, members of academia and New York State officials will host panel discussions on the importance of an emerging superconductor technology industry. Panels will draw attention to superconductor technology's profound impact on creating new economic opportunities in the community, and will discuss the importance of training the next generation's workforce in this industry -- creating high-paying jobs potential right here in New York State.

The summit will also allow members of industry and academia to highlight the far-reaching applications and benefits of superconductors at a networking luncheon session. Here key players in the emerging industry will have the chance to underscore individual efforts in developing superconductor technologies and capitalizing on the game-changing technology's applications in energy, mobile networking, biotech, advanced computing, transportation, cyber-security and metrology, among other solutions.
