FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Curtains Up for Side By Side
By Sondheim Musical Revue

Side by Side by Sondheim, a musical revue featuring works by celebrated Broadway and film composer Steven Sondheim, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, and Sunday, Oct. 10, in the Sanctuary of Lake Highlands United Methodist Church. Each year the Music Ministry presents a spectacular Christmas program, and Side by Side is presented to raise funds for a professional orchestra for the concert.
This popular revue features Sondheim songs from productions, such as A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, West Side Story, Follies, Evening Primrose, Gypsy, Anyone Can Whistle and Pacific Overtures.  Although a gifted composer and lyricist in his own right, Sondheim collaborated with the legendary Leonard Bernstein, Mary Rodgers, Richard Rodgers and Jule Styne, producing some of the most memorable and entertaining songs in musical theater history.
Featured performers will be Susan Fox and Whitney Dewell, professional soloists who sing at LHUMC, along with baritone Tim Marks. Duo pianists Scott Ayers and David Morgan will sizzle on dual pianos. Other cast members will include Chancel Choir members Janelle Krumbholz, Staci Mannix and Mary Nell Tripp, with narration by Robert Temple.
Tickets for Side by Side by Sondheim are $10 each for adults (13 years and older) and $5 for children (12 and younger). For tickets, contact Rev. Nicki Lyford at 214-348-6600, ext. 108, or nlyford@lhumc.com. You may also purchase tickets online through the lhumc.com website.
“Stephen Sondheim’s works are witty and wonderful,” explains Rev. Nicki Lyford, Minister of Music. “Bring your family and your friends and your neighbors, and enjoy an evening of memorable entertainment and fun.”
