The greatest challenge facing Asian American churches today is reaching and growing Young Adults who are healthy disciples of Jesus Christ. This workshop will suggest five "cries" of Asian American young adults that the Church needs to be aware of in order to effectively minister to this population.

During this workshop, you will have an opportunity to engage the "five cries," learn from other practitioners and share your approach to building a thriving Young Adult ministry in your church! We plan to discuss the following topics:

(1) The social-cultural impacts on Asian American Young Adults,
(2) The retention of Asian American Young Adults, and
(3) Reaching Asian American Young Adults.
(4) how your church can more effectively reach Asian American Young Adults.

We will also introduce ISAAC and PAACCE's new primer for Asian American Christian Young Adults.

About Our Speakers:

Tim Tseng 10Rev. Dr. Timothy Tseng, Executive Director of ISAAC and Interim English Pastor at Canaan Taiwanese Christian Church will share about the unique concerns of Asian American Young Adults and introduce a new resource for Asian American Young Adults at this workshop. As father of a young adult,  a pastor of young adults, and a seminary professor, Tim has been a mentor of many emerging leaders. He is also a specialist in Asian American Christianity.

He wll be joined by Rev. Dr. Peter Wang of the Southbay Chinese Baptist Church and Joshua Lee of Chinese for Christ Church of Hayward. They will share observations and experiences in the retention of Asian American Young Adults and attracting Asian American Young Adults.

Peter has served as pastors of youth and young adults for the Chinese for Christ Church and the Chinese Church in Christ (both in San Jose). He recently received his Doctorate at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary on the topic of Effective Second generation leadership in an immigrant Chinese church.

Josh has been serving at Chinese For Christ Church of Hayward for 15 years, full-time for the past five. He is currently the lead pastor at The Crossing, the English-language ministry of CFCC Hayward. Josh graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a dual B.A. degree in Psychology and the Practice of Fine Arts in 1996. He received an M.A. in Marital Family Therapy in 2001 and M.Div. in 2005 from Western Seminary.
