Hands

  • Tackling injustice through community organizing.
  • Being Christ's presence as a parish by working locally with other community organizations.
  • Building relationships with other organizations who desire the common good, transcending faith, ethnic and class differences.

 

Who is this for?

A team of parish leaders who want to be part of bringing God’s reign of justice from the world as it is to the world as it should be.

What will we do?

Share tools of community organizing using the Industrial Area Foundation (IAF) model.

Explore the theological and biblical basis for community organizing.

Together we will…

Find out how a mission for community organizing deepens parish life, strengthens leadership within a parish and builds relationship with other organizations working for the common good.

Cost: $10 per parish

Metro Vancouver Alliance (the local Alliance of IAF) is an emerging broad-based citizens’ organization which works to connect, train, and organize the communities of Metro Vancouver across religious, labour, ethnic, class and neighborhood lines to take action for the common good. Its mission is to build a vast network of organizational members and to create the collective capacity to make Metro Vancouver more just, equitable and sustainable for all citizens.
