Backup Central Live! Central Florida

Backup Central Live! is an educational event that is free to qualified IT professionals. It is hosted by W. Curtis Preston of BackupCentral.com, the most popular site on the Internet dedicated entirely to backup & recovery.  Backup Central Live! will be a full day of learning, fun (believe it or not), along with complementary breakfast and lunch. In addition, you will have the chance to win one of four $100 gift cards.

The day will consist of several independent, educational sessions by W. Curtis Preston. Following each independent session will be one or more presentations from the vendors who have sponsored the show.

Topics covered will include the challenges of backing up and recovering:

  • Virtualized servers (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V, Xen)
  • Very large servers and data centers
  • Remote offices and laptops
  • Data retained for multiple years

Once the challenges are explained, we will cover how to solve these challenges using products and services available today, including:

  •  Cloud backup
  •  Deduplication
  •  Continuous data protection (CDP)
  •  Near-CDP
  •  Archive software
  •  Tape and its proper role

About the speakers

W. Curtis Preston is widely acknowledged to be the leading independent expert in backup and recovery -- and a very entertaining speaker as well.  Working in the field for over 17 years, Preston has spoken at over 300 seminars and conferences, and written several hundred articles and blog posts, as well as three O'Reilly books.  Search the Internet for any topic about backup and you are sure to find Preston's thoughts on that subject right at the top of the list.
