February 28, 2011 marks the first annual Minnesota Bike Summit on Capitol Hill. WE NEED BICYCLE ADVOCATES FROM THROUGHOUT MINNESOTA to join us on this important day! The event will focus on educating the new administration and legislative leaders about the impact bicycling has on the health of individuals, communities, the environment and the economy.
The event will begin in the lower level event room at Christ Lutheran Church at 9:30 a.m. During the morning meetings, staff and members of BikeMN will train attendees in talking to legislators. We will facilitate sessions on bike related legislative issues, bike facilities and state agencies that impact bicycle programs throughout Minnesota. We will also talk about growing the number of statewide Bicycle Friendly Communities and Businesses. We are excited to announce our guest speakers, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede. Minneapolis and Rochester are the first two cities in Minnesota to be recognized by the League of American Bicyclists as Bicycle Friendly Communities. Lunch will be provided before the assembly marches to the Minnesota State Capitol to rally for our cause, meet with legislators and view industry displays in the rotunda.
Thank You to Quality Bicycle Products (QBP) of Bloomington, MN for sponsoring the 2011 Minnesota Bike Summit. QBP is the largest parts and accessories distributor in the bicycle industry serving more than 5000 dealers around the world. We are delighted to announce that Steve Flagg, QBP founder, will be our featured guest speaker in the Capitol rotunda.
Thanks to you, the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota will continue to pursue a vision of making bicycling a safe, easy, fun and cool choice for everyone.
