We the People: Assessing California's Century of Direct Democracy 

The California Budget Project’s 2011 policy conference, We the People: Assessing California’s Century of Direct Democracy, will look forward and backward to explore the impact of the initiative process on the budget, budget process, and our systems of governance, as well as the immediate challenges posed by the looming budget shortfall and a weak economy. Plenary sessions and workshops will examine fiscal and governance reform proposals, options for spurring economic recovery, and the impact of budget and policy proposals on vulnerable Californians.
