Greetings! 

We invite you to participate in another great CSU Marching Band season and be a part of history in supporting head coach Steve Fairchild’s CSU Rams in their quest for another thrilling bowl victory season! Last year our 260 member band was the largest in the state and the Mountain West Conference, but we don’t care about size as much as we care about quality - WE NEED YOU to continue our traditions and strive for new levels of excellence! 

As you may already know, the CSU Marching Band has been recognized for innovation and excellence by the College Band Directors National Association as one of the top 5 most innovative collegiate marching bands in the nation! We have a variety of great halftime show concepts that are receiving consideration during our spring show planning process, and will keep you posted when plans are finalized.  We’re extremely excited about another great season that will continue the CSU tradition of excellence and innovation. We will also continue our commitment to our students to streamline and reduce the time in marching band, without reducing the quality. Last year each member of the band who successfully completed the season received a scholarship, and these awards increase with each year of membership in the band.  We anticipate that this will be the case again this year.

We need your experience to make this the best year ever. Consider bringing a friend and continue to put your musical talent to good use in support of the RAMS!!! Before submitting your commitment form, please read this important information:

Please read and consider the performance schedule carefully. Being in the marching band is a commitment to everyone else that  you will attend band camp and rehearsals consistently and that you will be present at every performance that is listed as “full band.”

We expect everyone to perform at football games, the Marching Band Showcase, and the CBA regional competition. We want this to be an organization in which you are proud to be a member. It is our intention to not march with any absences during performances. Standstill performances have more flexibility (except for bass drums). Every element of our planning for the upcoming season is based on the number of people who fill out this commitment form. Please realize your importance to the organization. Should an unavoidable conflict occur, please notify the director immediately: Christopher.Nicholas@colostate.edu.

We fully support your decision to participate or not--there is no pressure either way--we just need to know! Since we do not estimate band members based on registration, simply dropping the course does not help us plan appropriately. You must inform the director if you change your mind. This approach assures you of the highest quality show planning and organization in the marching band. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!
