The tone of public discourse has taken a downward turn in the past few years. Recent events have forced us all to take a closer look at how those in the public eye conduct themselves; and unfortunately, the State of Arizona has found itself thrust into the center of this inspection.
In an effort to set a new tone among our membership, the Arizona Association of Counties has adopted a Code of Civility. In order to start a positive, constructive discussion on the topic, we will be hosting the Public Official Civility Workshop, Wednesday, March 16 in Phoenix.
Come out and join AACo for a frank discussion on civility in the public sector. This workshop will be facilitated by Jackie Byers of the National Association of Counties and will feature Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson and Greenlee County Attorney Derek Rapier as guest panelists.
All public officials from Arizona are welcome to attend, whether you serve at the State, county or local level. There is no cost to attend this workshop, however registration is required.
Bringing civility back to public life will be a process; this workshop is intended to spark ideas and inspire attendees to bring the discussion back to their communities, where the real work will be done.
Come join AACo in raising the bar for all in public service.
