You're invited to join UCR Palm Desert and Inland & Desert Hillel for a free movie night featuring "A Small Act," an inspiring documentary that illustrates the ripple effect that a single action can create.
"A Small Act" tells the true story of Hilde Back, a young Jewish woman who escaped Nazi Germany to find refuge in Sweden. Moved by the generosity of her adopted country, she eventually sponsors a young Kenyan boy, Chris Mburu. Her humble sponsorship puts Chris through school and launches him into Harvard Law, paving the way to his job as a United Nations attorney and founder of an education fund for the children of his village.
The film reveals the power of a small gesture and emphasizes that an education is perhaps the most generous gift of all.
Free - RSVP's required. Click here to register, or call 760-834-0800 for more information. Light refreshments provided.
Sponsored by Inland & Desert Hillel and the UCR Palm Desert MFA program.
