ACTING TECHNIQUE AND SCENE STUDY FOR THE CURIOUS AND THE PRO.

Actors must keep their machines well oiled and their tool box full! There are many different styles and techniques and I believe actors should be familiar with all of them. Then you have the freedom to pick and choose which works best for you and your specific project. Truthful acting comes from understanding the art and science of human behavior. We help you to translate what you do everyday into acting in character with unfamiliar words and actions. You'll be surprised how logical it is. It's exciting! It's easy to understand and you'll gain invaluable information to add to your toolbox.

AGES 14 - 100 welcome.

HOW THE 2 DAYS WILL ROUGHLY LOOK:

Lana Young and Jon Emm trained in London, San Francisco and Los Angeles. We take all the best "stuff" we learned  and spend 2 days sharing it with you. The workshops are largely ACTIVE but there will be some note taking time as well.

SCHEDULE:

DAY ONE - April 30th, 10:00a.m. - 3:00p.m.

Technical Preparation

• The True You - This exercise helps the actor to form an honest understanding of self and how they’re viewed by their peers.
• Ice Breakers, warm ups, vocal exercises followed by pantomimes and improvisation.
• Acting technique
• Listening and reacting exercises with short scripts.
• Actors will be paired up with scripts and perform a cold read.
• Pairs will begin rehearsing with eachother.

DAY TWO - May 7, 10:00a.m. - 3:00p.m.

Rehearsals & Performancc

• Warm ups, stretches, vocal exercises 
• Scene partners pair up and work on their scripts using our list of tools to aide in preparation of your role. i.e. character bio, scene objective, actions, motivations etc.. With guidance from Lana and Jon, the students learn to successfully apply the list of steps for character building and script analysis.
• On Stage Rehearsals - Each pair presents their scene for direction, further guidance and continued rehearsal.
• Scenes - We see the scenes presented in their final stage.
