Following the stunning success of the 2nd National Melbourne Festival of Choirs in 2011, here is your opportunity to collaborate with some of Australia's best music directors and sing in Melbourne's spectacular venues, including the magnificent  National Gallery of Victoria, BMW Edge Theatre and Federation Square.

We are excited to announce another diverse and exciting program for 2012 featuring some of Australia's most dynamic and outstanding choral directors, singers and musicians that will lead workshops and conduct the Festival Men's and Women's choruses including Kate Sadler, who took Vox Synergy to the finals of Battle of the Choirs on Channel 7 and Chris Blain, dynamic director and leader of the outstanding boy-band a cappella group SUADE, our Choir in Residence for 2012!

We are also thrilled to announce that one of Australia 's most dynamic award winning conductors and composers, Peter Mousaferiadis will conduct the Festival World Music Chorus.

And what a treat to announce that Dr Tim Patston, former Head of Music Theatre at NIDA and Principal Baritone with Opera Australia combined with a PhD in Psychology, will use his practical and academic experience to give us an insight into Music Performance Anxiety.

All genres of choirs are welcome to participate in the festival. You may also register as an individual participant and join in this wonderful weekend of singing and fun!!

CHOIR SHOWCASE PERFORMANCES 

Saturday 7th April 2 - 5pm at National Gallery of Victoria        $100 per choir

Saturday 7th April 7.30pm at BMW Edge Theatre         $300 per choir

Choir numbers will be limited for each concert - first in, best dressed policy.  Each choir will perform for a maximum of 20 minutes, repertoire to be submitted prior to event. Grand piano and minimal AV provided. No pre-rehearsal in NGV prior to performing. Minimal rehearsal time in BMW Edge Theatre prior to performing between 5 - 7pm depending on choir numbers.

WORKSHOPS   $25 Adult/$20 Conc & U18

FESTIVAL T-SHIRT  $20 each - nb: must be worn if performing in massed festival choir concert

 

FULL FESTIVAL REGISTRATION:

FULL FESTIVAL PACKAGE  $180 Adult /$140 Conc & U18 (or $160/$120 without t-shirt)                            Includes entry to all rehearsals, workshops, concerts over the festival weekend & festval t-shirt        


Please note, choirs who register for the full weekend package, will receive complimentary festival registration for their MD and accompanist, excluding t-shirt and entry to SUADE concert. 

All performing choirs must provide certificate of public liability to $5,000,000 

Once fees are paid, they are non-refundable. If registering as concession, pensioner or student, appropriate identification must be provided ie: concession card no.
