About the Girl Scouts of Greater New York
Girl Scouts is the nation’s premier leadership organization for girls. More than two-thirds of women listed in “Who’s Who in America,” two-thirds of female members of congress, and 80% of female business owners are former Girl Scouts. We know that our programs have a profound effect on brightening a girl’s future success. Serving more than 25,000 girls in all five boroughs of New York, our leadership development programs include career exploration with live executive role models and workplace experiences, as well as financial literacy, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), camping and environmental programs. Of course, it also includes the nation’s largest business training program for girls—the Girl Scout Cookie Program
We have strong demand for our programs—with steadily increasing membership in New York City for the last five consecutive years. Funds raised at the Women of Distinction Breakfast are critical to help us meet this rising demand and prepare today’s Girl Scouts to become tomorrow’s Women of Distinction.
