 COURSE OBJECTIVES

 This program will enable participants to:

• Explore ways in which use of electronic health records and electronic communications technologies may reduce health care providers’ malpractice liability risk.
•  Identify ways in which use of these technologies may increase malpractice liability exposure.
• Identify potential strategies for malpractice risk management following implementation of electronic health records systems. 
• Identify general principles of information security.
• Identify common information security issues and challenges.
• Explore strategies to minimize information security risks.
• Describe lessons learned from actual cases, and identify application of lessons in their arena of risk management.
